Whenever a conversation is about artificial intelligence (AI), people currently think of ChatGPT or one of its sibling technologies which are based on the same principles. Nevertheless, there is a lot to discover in the shadow of the ChatGPT spotlight.
Only a few people realize that Generative AI is only one of many different AI approaches. ChatGPT is cool. It covers many use cases and supports us to solve a broad range of everyday problems which are time-consuming or annoying to solve without such a new solution. Thanks for that, OpenAI. But ChatGPT is not the solution to all AI problems. Strictly speaking, the family of ChatGPT-like systems such as Midjourney, DALL-E or GitHub Co-Pilot is only one option, albeit one that is currently very much in the spotlight. Predictive AI solutions are often overlooked. But which approach is suitable for a selected use case? Let us compare these approaches, Generative and Predictive AI.
