At QCRI, Ahmed works on speech recognition in Arabic. Similar to previous work, Ahmed is focusing on the applied research part for the technology addressing the transcription and education sector.
Prior to joining QCRI, Ahmed worked on several projects that focused on speech technology, including acoustic modeling and language modeling for different languages. He worked for Nuance in Cambridge, MA in voicemail to text transcription from 2006-2011, addressing the design and architecture for the ASR system. Before Nuance, Ahmed worked for six years at different IBM labs for speech technology, including two years at Watson labs.
Ahmed serves as technical lead for various committees, such as the e-Bag Project within the Supreme Education Council-Qatar; and has served as a mentor for the New York University- Abu Dhabi Hackathon.
