Language Intelligence @ Work is LT-Innovate's Innovation Acceleration programme. It is based on value-chains analysis, which reveals that innovation is accelerated (or slowed down) by multiple factors, as shown in the graph above. Ideally, all these factors need to be addressed to ensure a smooth and steady flow of innovation from the drawing board of the researcher to the end consumer in the various application markets.
Many language-dependent production and service processes across many domains are language-dependent. Human-centric Artificial Intelligence based on Language Technology (Language Intelligence) can help streamline and enrich these processes, facilitating pervasive cross-lingual understanding and interaction.
LT-Innovate sees the key driver of innovation in an intensified interaction between LT vendors and buyers/users, with the double goal of identifying domain specific needs (challenges) and delivering mature responses (solutions) to these. The latter will be further reinforced by harnessing the strengths of world-class applied research.
Currently, LI @ Work focuses on:
- surveying the application markets for language intelligence-based solutions (domain specific use cases & solutions);
- facilitating the interaction between LI vendors and integrators/buyers through working groups and targetted events (conferences, workshops, webinars) providing insights into the needs of specific industries or verticals;
- providing feedback to the research community about desired applied research needs & priorities & facilitating the transfer of research outputs to industry;
- encouraging the coming together of collaborative buyer-vendor-researcher consortia to launch projects taking advantage of market-driven innovation opportunities (Project Factory).
