PhD student at KU Leuven (Centre for Computational Linguistics) working on the development and further refinement of the Dutch, English, and Spanish Text-to-Pictograph and Pictograph-for-Text technologies. She is currently doing research on pictograph languages, spelling correction, automated text simplification, user interfaces, and natural language generation, using techniques from machine translation and other related domains. She is also working on the extrinsic validation of this work in the context of people with cognitive disabilities, measuring how this improves the e-inclusion of the target group, resulting in an improved quality of life. Leen's PhD project won the audience award and jury's 1st prize during the Falling Walls Lab finale (2017) at KU Leuven.
