Presentation title:
Language Technologies in Resilient Armed Forces
Presentation description:
The challenges modern armed forces and security organisations face in mission accomplishment are becoming more complex, multidimensional, and multipolar. Armed forces are no longer only employed on land, at sea, and in the air (i.e. the traditional operational domains), but also in outer and cyber space. The speed of data processing, data networking, and the integration of AI into the decision-making process and the immediate operational area are playing an increasingly important role. New language technologies are of utmost importance in overcoming these challenges, as they enable multilingual communication during operations and support intelligence analyses as well as cyber security. Today, technologies such as AI represent a paradigm shift in the application of large language models and language tools; however, the introduction of language tools into a military and security environment requires the consideration of certain factors, such as the premise that resilient armed forces and security organisations must always be self-sufficient and work with reliable information.
