Back in the mid-nineties, Tom Davenport of Ernst & Young defined Knowledge Management (KM) as “a process that captures, distributes and uses knowledge effectively”. With growing global organizations and with advanced technologies, Multilingual Knowledge Management (MKM) moves more and more center stage. Therefore, it is time to switch on the spotlights and examine what is the state of play. What is the value MKM contributes to innovative organizations? What are the main obstacles in compiling huge amounts of multilingual data? How do you overcome them? How could ready-made domain-specific and general language resources help? How to conceive best human-machine interaction? ...and, more broadly, what is the future of MKM?
